Austria's presidential election and a look back at Vienna 2016

Austria bucked this year's political trend by rejecting a far-right candidate in its unprecedentedly protracted presidential election but the scars remain. The election, coupled with Europe's ongoing refugee crisis and the uncertainty over the bloc's future, has brought about much turmoil to this dormant Alpine nation. In these dispatches, I look ahead (and then back) to the victory of former Green party chief Alexander Van der Bellen in the 2016 election, and reflect about what it all means for Vienna.
